Anyone know where to get new splined wheel bolts for the style 5, 2 piece wheels?

I purchased a 530i with style 5 bbs wheels this week. The call is in excellent shape with the exception of the wheels. The out side rings are missing some of the clear coat. I would like to refinish them after sand and polish. Do you have to replace the bolts if taken apart.

If you need a lot, I highly recommend sending an email to Ehrlrich Wheel Works, I was emailing Paul back and forth for awhile about getting a set of bolts for my style 42 BBS two piece rims. I ended up getting a full set for $35 shipped, I PayPal'd him and he shipped them fairly quickly. Bolts came in okay condition and were very obviously old and pulled from some other rim and were not cleaned up at all. Which wasn't really a problem for me I just spent some extra time cleaning the threads of the bolts from the old loctide and grime.

I restored a set using a crock pot and degreaser to clean-off prior PO’s paint job and grime, a tumbler and corn husk media to polish them, and then I sent them off to a local metal shop to have them zinc plated ($50). They came out nice but for the amount of work it took buying new is likely a better value proposition.

I thought I replied the other day by phone but now I don't see it. By your reply your saying I have to place them? I also want to know if I have to put something on the joint to seal the joint so I don't have a problem keeping the tires inflated.

You don’t have to re-plate them, but they’re more likely to corrode if you choose not to. BBS actually recommends against re-using them and suggests replacing with all new hardware. But plenty people including myself have successfully cleaned and re-used the bolts. You don’t need to reseal joints on 2 piece wheels because the mesh face provides structural support but is not part of the tire seal. 3 piece wheels do require restoration of the joint seal between the wheel lip section and the barrel section.
