I did do some work repairing my AC and demounted the glove compartment and other details, among others the "ding thing" on the passenger side. For once I did take a picture of it and saw that there is 3 connections marked T1, T2 and T3. I wondered what sound the different connections will give and hooked the "ding-thing" to 12V. Connecting the T1,2,3 to (-) will produce a sound. The T2 sound very much like the warning sound for "Belt buckle". There is a "Drivers Seat Belt" switch connected to A25 (Body electronics module).
T1: Repetitive dings with no decay with a frequency of about 2Hz
T2: Repetitive dings with a decay with a slightly lower frequency than T1
T3: A continuous ding as long as the pin is connected to (-) and a decay when the pin is released from (-)

That's interesting stuff! One of the sockets is used exclusively in the Japanese market as a 'reversing' warning....

Shogun tricks and tips for the E32 series are HERE!
Thank you Shogun, but that one on YouTube doesn't look like the one I have. I saw a couple more looking like yours. Seems that they have a test button or something too.
Yes, I found the indication of that in the ET-manual. But why warn the driver he is in reverse? The people outside will not hear the signal. I expected to find a connection to the backing-radar/parking assistance system some how, but not.
Late Addition: I found this thread on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4oz3z50TR0
His sounding device is not the same as mine but I have the single pole connector which as I understand is the connection for "reversing" sound. Then I ask what are the other connections meant to be?
