Looking for some help in my 96 Z3 dome light. I read the threads but can’t find my problem. I replaced the dome with a sylvania LED bulb. It is a pretty cool blue color.
When the doors open it turns on bright. When the doors close after a pause they dim but stay lit. From a distance in the dark you don’t notice it is still barely lit. Will this drain the battery? Is this because I used an LED bulb? I don’t think it’s the striker because it dims. Any input is appreciated. I am new to this car and have learned so much from this forum! I use to restore fiats.
I put in an LED bulb five years ago. I think it was this one:

It dims for a few seconds and goes completely out. An incompletely dimmed LED probably draws so little current that it would take a very long time to drain the battery.
I guess the dimmer function is in the receptacle. Maybe the dimmed LED draws so little that the dimmer thinks it's out.
Put the incandescent bulb back in and see if it goes out.

I had the same problem with the Sylvania bulb. I took it out and returned it. It’s not suppose to do that. I bought a different no name made in China brand from Pep Boys and it worked fine. Check the isle where they sell the Too Fast Too Furious stuff.
On on a side note my dorm light works fine when the door opens and closes, but won’t turn on when I press the button to manually turn it on. Can it be that the switch needs replacing?
