Will a BMW 520D engine fit in a e30 body..
If so.. what will be needed to be changed or bypassed to get the engine running?

E30s came with an m21 (i think was the designation) diesel.
as long as you got time and money, you can put anything in it

Yes it will fit.
No it won't make sense to do - to the best of my knowledge, that is a swap that has not been pioneered publicly. Which means that you'll have to figure out how to get the electronics working on your own dime.
