E92, Cylinder 6 misfire, replaced coil and plug, still misfiring, still CEL

I was getting a misfire one day on the way to work, so I turned around while in limp mode and went home. Permanent code for cylinder 6 misfire, so I replaced just that plug and coil. Turned it back on, same code, still CEL light. I don't really have the BMW software to clear it, I just had one of those cheap scanners and says it sends an erase request, but the code comes back as permanent. Is this just a case where I need to have the BMW software to actually clear the cylinder from shutting down for limp mode, or is there something more fucked up going on here?

For full information, you need a BMW-capable code reader. Cheapest and arguably best option is a $14 K+DCAN cable from eBay and a free ISTA download.
