There is one in chicago craigslist listed for $600.

I would say anything between 450 and 750.

I bought one locally off Craigslist last week for $600. But I've seen them go for $1000 on bmw2002faq.com.

I wish we could specify E21 prices and 2002 prices for them, depending where you need it.

Prices for 245's, Recaros and 3.91's LSD's from E21's have gone through the roof because every 2002 apparently "needs" one...
Mine has a worn out 4th gear synchro and I have not seen any reasonable priced 245 in the last 5 years for sale.

Getrag 245/4-5sp are not easy to find, there is 4 pick n pulls here in this area and it was over 5 years looking before I found one and got it,many automatics, I paid $153 out the door, its my back up one now with all new seals, I have started to get the bearings for a complete bearing and syncro- changeout-make it new, my back up differential has all brand new bearings and seals.

No worries guys. In about 2 years these transmissions will be worth the time and money for an M42 swap and getrag 240 are cheap and abundant ; )

Here is what happened to my 240 after cranking boost to 19psi




Ill try 260 next season. And if it craps out ill upgrade to 265.

No reason to trash the 240s or 245s. Also 240 are getting more expensive since there is less 245s on the market.
