Hi everyone. My tranny warning light came on yesterday, no limp mode just shifts quick, hard on downshift. Had codes read, only engine codes came up, air pump, lean, I think it's vacuum leaks. Would this cause tranny light to come on? Car still shifts through all gears, reverse as well. Light is off till I start car then maybe 20 seconds it comes on, still in park or neutral. HELP! I love this car.

The first step in diagnosing a problem is to scan the engine computer (DME in BMWspeak) and the automatic transmission computer (EGS) for codes. Find a reputable indie shop in your area at www.bimrs.org.

Since so many of the systems in the car are interconnected all sorts of things could be affected even though the problem is another part, get it dx.
