Inconsistent tread wear what’s the reason ?

So my summer run flats have much more tread wear on the rear wheels than the front. What’s the reason ?

How does your alignment look? The rear has a lot of adjustment possible. That or something is bent.

I’m not sure about the alignment. All four were put in at the same time so not sure why rear tires have more wear. Could it be because of xDrive or something ?

It's much more likely to be an alignment issue. xDrive doesn't significantly change the rear, and would actually improve tire wear by having all 4 wheels contribute to acceleration.

Also make sure all 4 tires are the same brand, model, and size. They MUST all be the same. Correct inflation pressures are important too.

Yeah that makes sense. Didn’t think about tire pressure and alignment. Thanks !

Even with xDrive, your rears will wear twice as fast or more if you drive aggressively, esp. on launch. xDrive is still 60 rear/40 front traction distribution. On my last xDrive, I replaced the rears twice more frequently than the front and the front still had tread, but was worn on the edges due to hard cornering.

Is that proven ? Or just your own experience?

I had a 2008 535i (non-xdrive) and it went through rear tires twice as fast at the fronts. I also had the sport suspension. The wider rear tires tend to wear twice as fast as the fronts. The nature of that beast and normal for that set up.
