2012 BMW 535i - Replacement Car Battery Recommendations

    Hi All,

I thought I would stop by here first before heading down to my local Auto Parts store and look for a replacement battery. The dealership wants around $250 for a new one and I would be looking at over $400 easy to get it replaced and registered? Are there any recommendation on a new battery? Is registering the battery with the car an option? Please let me know.. thanks Cheers, Moe C

my BMW OEM battery in my e39 lasted 7 years. just sayin'.
in my 2014 F10 the battery was replaced as part of the service bulletin 2 yrs ago, so I've not had to do it yet, but more than likely, I'll go get another OEM battery.

A Genuine BMW battery, or a quality German made replacement is your best bet. Most F10's require a 950cca 105ah AGM Battery and registration with the IBS is absolutely critical. This is routine maintenance, no different than tires or brakes. 3-5 years is typical service life with normal use of the vehicle. It is not possible to register the battery without diagnostic equipment such as ISTA.

If you want to save a little money seek out a reputable independent BMW Specialist near you and ask them for an estimate. Repair shops make next to nothing on tires/batteries/and oil services so don't count on the price for a quality replacement professionally installed to be remarkably less.

Install the correct battery, meaning the one that came with the car and then get it registered
