Given that it's only at idle I don't think it's coming from the secondary exhaust valve/flap you're refering to, since it only opens past a certain throttle point (which means you should hear it not only at idle but even at low revs/engine load).
It probably has more to do with the exhaust line touching another piece of metal somewhere, due to a worn off or misplaced rubber mounting.
If that's coming from the secondary flap, google "golf tee mod". It's the easiest thing to do and it'll keep it permanently opened
