Hey everyone, first post here and I just wanna start by addressing the fact that I have searched up and down the forums for similar issues to no avail-
So, I've got the stock adaptive xenon headlights for my e60 and one day on my way home from the airport at around 7:30 I was driving with my fogs and headlights on and I went to switch on my brights and all of my lights turned off, the fogs make sense because you can't have them on at the same time as your brights but no brights nor dims worked after that. I turned the car off and back on, still no brights or dims. My brights still work if I pull back on the stalk. I've checked fuse #70 which is labeled for adaptive headlights and it is still good, I've tried looking to online to see if there's a relay that controls the dims but I did not see anything. My next thoughts are to take a volt meter and see if I am getting power from the wires or to check if it's the headlight switch but I'm worried the switch isn't at fault. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation with their car or does anyone have any advice on what I should try and troubleshoot next? Any input is appreciated, thank you!

Haven't heard of this scenario previously. You need a OBD BMW code reader to pull the BMW specific error codes. A lot of people use Carly for BMW, available through your App Store with OBD connectors through Amazon. Not a generic code reader as found at AutoZone, Pepboys, etc. The lights are controlled by the light module, read computer. You say your flash to pass/daytime running lights still function, seporate and distinct from bi-Xeon, there just in the same light housing.
Report back when you are able to pull codes or find a good independent repair shop.
Here are a couple of BMW training documents to assist you with your knowledge building process on the lighting systems.

hope this gives you a little background of the technology built into these cars. My 05 530i has no fewer than 37 modules controlling things behind the scenes.
Little more information from the BMW Technical Information System site. Everything e60 can be had through this site on background through repair.

Thank you for the insight!
The glass cover popped off the inside of my hi beam my passenger side HID headlight. I tried everything to get it and pop it back in without separating the lense. No can do and I'm not paying $700-1200 just for a Forrest Whitaker look to disappear. So my car has a permanent wink!
Here's a link that will give you an idea what will be required.
