    Failing Alternator?

    2007 BMW 530i N52
    Hey guys, my battery sign just came on in the dashboard along with a "charging malfunction" message, I went to the hidden OBD on dashboard, and the voltage was ranging from 11.9 to 14.4v, every time the voltage changes so does the RPMs.
    After I shut the car off, ther college read around 12.7v
    Thoughts?
