I love Kimi. Kimi is a fast driver. To say that he is as fast or faster than Vettel consistently is disingenuous at best.
Kimi seems to be the more consistent driver this year, save for pit stop ups. With the lead driver strategy in his favor I do believe he'd have performed better. Vettel seems mentally weak this year.

Where did Kimi finish at Monza?

Yeah dude, five wins vs. zero for the season (or the last five seasons, for that matter) is pretty weak

About 3 spots ahead of his teammate in 2nd I do believe, after his tires were absolutely destroyed
Not much you can do about that, Ferrari monitors these things and made their decisions when and when not to pit. Weren't Hamilton's tires were something 10-12 laps newer when they crossed the finish line? Inexcusable.

** Edit, Hamilton's tires were 8 laps newer and he finished 8.7 seconds ahead of Kimi, with Kimi's tires looking like this.

Again, when one teammate is on a strategy to NOT take first, what can we expect? Again I'm not saying he's better than Vettel, but this year he's been very consistent and hasn't been making the blunders Vettel has.

Why would Kimi be on the lead strategy if he is consistently out qualified by Vettel?

I've never made the argument that Kimi is faster or the better driver today, simply that he's been very consistent and hasn't thrown races away like Vettel has this year.

My statements have been based in a hypothetical "what if" they put Kimi on the lead strategy. There have been instances this year where Kimi was asked to move over for Vettel, or where he's shown great pace and was on the lesser strategy, or was tasked with providing a tow for Vettel in qualifying (which they apparently swap each Qualifying according to Vettel, but still upset Vettel when he provided the tow to Kimi at Monza indicating that that may not be 100% truth).

My statements here started with my belief that Kimi is still competitive and deserving of his Ferrari seat. I'm excited to see what Leclerc can do, but I think he would have benefited from either another year at Sauber or an upgrade to the Haas seat to replace Grosjean.

Kimi is not on the lead strategy because Vettel consistently qualifies ahead of him and because he scores more points. Sure, Kimi is still competitive, and I don’t see anyone debating that. Vettel has a better chance of winning the WDC this year and has for some time, which is why he is the lead driver.

All of my statements kind of stemmed from the quote below. I understand why Kimi is the #2, I would just like to see what the guy is capable of as a #1 driver in the #1 car this year.

With the exception of Stroll and Ericsson, aren't they all?

It's always hard to tell, sometimes all it takes is missing a word or two for an entire conversation to get derailed or misconstrued. I spend a lot of time typing/browsing when I should be sleeping, so instead of a well thought out statement it comes out half-baked and nearly incoherent

So Kimi should get lead strategy while running 4th or 5th and VET is 2nd. Best case he gains a position, but still behind VET. Yes, VET will be ok with that, lmao. And why the hell would you disadvantage the driver who is ahead?

The contraband is strong with this one.

Ryan was speaking in hypotheticals, irrespective of the current Championship standings. His argument is Kimi would be farther up than he currently is if he was given the favor Vettel enjoys.

In his prime? No. Uncompetitive? Please.

I'm pleased to Kimi still on the grid the few times I'll bother to watch, when there isn't a good Three Stooges episode being re-run at the same time.

And we are saying that there are obvious reasons why he does not enjoy that favor that make the hypotheticals irrelevant.
