Man this is getting out of hand

George?
I deal with people like Jim on a regular basis, obviously a narcisstic scammer who probably does this type of crap to everyone unfortunate enough to have to deal with him. I would cut him off unless he pays all his bills in full and a hefty deposit on any future work.
Hey guys it has been a little while and I wanted to follow up on this thread.
I want to start by saying building a custom car is hard, but trusting someone build your car is probably harder.
I don’t blame or fault Jim for any of this. I have spent hours evaluating this whole situation, and I would consider this a failure on our part.. In short, we produced an awesome car, with excellent fabrication, great performance, and 110% of what Jim wanted from us. We set the right expectation for the build, but when the complications from the previous shops got deeper, we weren’t clear enough in our explanations or trusted enough to be able to explain this to Jim.
Some of this lack of clarity came from a difference in knowledge, and some from our frustration with what was given to us. Frustration from executing exactly what we set out to do, but having to invest double the time trying to fix problems all around the car. Frustration from getting challenged about who caused these problems and who would cover the cost of the repairs: Jim, the previous shop(s), or would Jim take them to court?
I try to look at failures as a chance to grow, and there has been a ton of growing here. It’s hard to explain the direct growth, but we are taking things slower, taking more time to explain, and documenting our time more accurately. I expect we won’t have this exact problem again as we are more aware of what can happen, and you need these lessons as early as possible.
Over the last week I have been contacted by the third shop to receive Jim’s car after us. We spent a few hours with the new shop owner getting him up to speed. Explaining what has happened with the shops between us. This is the first shop that I feel confident could actually fix what has gone wrong. We will continue to support shops that try and help Jim. We haven’t given up on him. if it comes down to it I will travel to fix the car personally, it just needs to be equitable for both of us.
I'll be around if you need me, Zack.

Thanks Zack, very, very much appreciated. The kit itself is awesome and a work of art. Unfortunately I just recieved your kind offer after the fact I had to hire someone to address the problems. But, there is no doubt to your skills, personality, and passion for BMWs.

Based on what I read in the thread, both Jimmyz and Zack have had a rough ride with this car. Hopefully, the car will eventually make its owner happy. The story reminds me a bit of DIRT11 who had a built motor supercharged E39 540i years ago. I think he ended up selling for pennies on the dollars he spent.
You have some hate issues that you should seek help/therapy. Really.

The DTA ECU is faulty and the wrong, or I should say there are better coil packs that need to be installed. The faulty DTA is not Zack's fault, but neither is it my fault. I paid for a working ECU.

hmmm
lets hope this can be sorted.
Good to see Zack coming to the party. Its very difficult when 3rd party suppliers are the cause of things like this. Also when you are the pioneer of a certain type of build, it can be a messy road.

Ouch. How on earth can a battery be installed reversed.

Sorry Zack, but I did not say I installed battery backwards. That is just wrong on all fronts. I just talked to the manager of that shop and he told me that is a bold faced non-truth. I do not like to come on here and show dirty laundry, but Zack, you have to stop it. My car has been thru 1 shop to change the spark plugs and I had a serious custom stereo guy check the battery wiring. Tim Barber did absolutely nothing on my car except start it up to verify the poor running condition. Please stop the false reports,I would greatly appreciate that. Otherwise it will be a case for slander. Let's keep this honest and civil, we both deserve that.

That car was cursed. It was also tuned by NickG of Technique Tuning and Karl at ACtuve Autowerks had the car in his shop. No one could sort it out. Not sure where it is today. Tuning for that factory ECU, to the extent the problems were tuning, has probably been further developed since 2010.
Because Zack's statement is false and bonderline slanderous . I have never installed a battery wrong, going back to my 5 hp Briggs&Stratton Bonanza mini bike I had in 6th grade. And there is no "new" shop. The owner of North Bay Bavarian repair shop has been kind enough to allow a real turner/professional race car driver to work on my car. My tuner's shop is full of pro race cars. After I get the ECU sorted out, I will improve on the old Dinan suspension. Repeat, I NEVER installed or told anyone I installed the battery backwards. That is just a bold faced lie, and Zack should be ashamed of even saying it. But I guess it is his way of trying to cover his butt. I know Zack is a popular guy, but he had/has no business working on BMW v8's, I found out out after the fact. That said, I still wish Zack the very best in his new shop, but please stop the lies.

Jim, this back and fourth doesn’t seem to be beneficial for anyone.
I have a hard time not clarifying when you post inaccurate information or partial truths. I hope it’s clear I have no need, interest, benefit, or intention to create false information.
I also hope you find your way out of this one. I suspect burning bridges with every shop you work with is why you’re having a hard time getting across the finish line.
The day I made this thread I had several shops call and warn me to drop your car. Unfortunately, I made the post long after work had started. I had hoped we would prove them wrong, that we would be the last shop, the one that did it all, that finished your car. I think we got close. We learned a lot, and I drink my coffee black now.
I’m going to stop replying here. If you need us you know our mailing address. I think we should keep it to that.

I consulted with an attorney only because Zack continues to talk BS and lies. No doubt he is trying to cover his backside. First and formost, no sop told him a battery was installed wrong. Secondly, the only shops my car has been to is built motor by Rebello Racing, after cooler and blown head gasket by RMS, and tune by RK Tunes before engine blew, and also Turbo Hoses installed engine after 2nd build. So Zack why don't you enlighten us with who said I installed battery wrong, and which shops "warned" you. I have not hired an attorney only sought advice thus far.
