Appropriate transmission fluid

Hi.

Need to change the fluid on my recently swapped getrag S6S but im not sure about the fluid type to use.

From research on the web and some diag software (Bosch easytronic) ive got the following info:


gs6-26, gs6-53 and gs6-37 : MTF LT 2, number 83-22-2-339-219

gs6-53, gs6-37 and gs6-17: MTF LT 3, number 83-22-2-339-221

No label: SAE 80 (API GL4)

Mine has got a ripped label so no concrete info available, only the numbers on the gear box assembly, ive bought the gear box 4 years ago and the seller couldnt shed lights on the donnor car. Dont know which one to go for, if MTf LT2 or MTF LT3.

You can go down a rabbit hole trying to figure out the best fluid to use for the S6S-420g. There are many threads across forums discussing and arguing this topic. The early 420g's called for regular old ATF, later ones MTF LT2, then after that I'm not too sure. Mine has the ATF label and I decided on a 50/50 mix of redline D4 and redline MT-90. I haven't put the trans in yet so I have no idea how it will be.

Guess im gonna go for the MTF2, seems the least risky option.
