Very hard to choose from the many contenders, as we all know prices can be crazy especially when no aftermarket alternative.
Here is my personal pick:
A simple hose, not even long or high pressure or anything, selling for $71: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...w/13901710555/
rubber hose.PNG
It's a fuel breather hose from here: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...04#13901710555
On the other hand, kind of impressive that we can still get almost anything for our cars.
Bring it on if you have better (worse) ones!
BMW speed sensor-small component, only about 2"x 3"
$660.00 from FCP:https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...or-34526764018
Wow!! I would say we have a winner, but this doesnt seem to fit an E38, sorry item disqualified

Interesting game and ripe with possibilities, but there should be a set of rules.
Is it Genuine BMW vs standard/generic pricing? The $15 1 m vacuum hose https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...r/11727545323/
Is it specific to the e38 line or a specific sub model? Because the $1470.25 (on sale from $1702.55!) right rear shock for the EDC/SL seems pretty high https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/37121091571/
And then you have items like the trims and panels that are only available from BMW...

It's all arbitrary of course, but I think the airbag control module is hard to say. Kind of a critical component to save your life and we have no idea what it cost to produce & develope it.
Sabreslight's $404 bazel is insane Just two pieces of plastic, probably cost $2 to produce. It probably has a higher margin than the rear shock for $1702.
I would keep it to genuine BMW only, E38 specific, doesn't matter which sub model.
The $404 bazel will be hard to beat! https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...l/61316909780/
I think a new DME from BMW runs $1500+. You can pick them up on Ebay for $50 and use pirated software to code it yourself.
I suppose that still wins out over the:
$12,459.47 door https://www.estore-central.com/part/41515380295/
Or the
$22,564.96 windscreen, green tinted upper strip https://www.estore-central.com/part/51312139335/

I think the $404 bezel was beaten by the $22K windshield, good job! Seems like an EU only option, not seeing the part number in U.S. shops.
We probably have a winner.
Well, to be fair it is for the 750iLS build...

Glove box handle, I spent $365 at the dealer for one. Even the service manager said that BMW must be proud of this part!
2001 750iL Catalyst. (Catalytic converter) cylinders 1-6 Remanufactured (used) Msrp-1,807.78
Price at BMW of South Atlanta, 1548.91. Same price for cylinders 7-12.
Don't have the part number right now, but the grommet for the V12 OSV/CCV is $25 per cylinder bank. A rubber grommet. Not even BMW original parts. The OSV itself is at least $45/side for a reputable one.

The disqualified glass was stated to come from the S line... but agree. One off, bevel is in all.

I for one am appalled with the price of a new MKIV navigation computer. List price of $3,947.18, on sale for $2,961.17. https://www.bmwdiscountparts.com/oem-parts/bmw-navigation-computer-658910-65909176685
I have to post one for a part that recently went up like 8x in price. The plastic sill strip you bang you shoe on and scuff up getting in and out of the car. I bought one a couple months ago for $17.50. Suddenly they've shot up to $132! I had to go back and check my old invoice to be sure I wasn't crazy.
