Yep, $600 for a set of four gaskets is a contender.

When did the head gasket job on my 750 I used hylomar on the old intake gaskets but I think they still leak. I gotta smoke test them and if they are leaking I will be getting those gaskets soon. The car runs great but it's only getting 10 miles to the gallon.

This has been going on for the last few years. With the profusion of You Tube how to videos and websites like this, less and less people are taking their cars to the dealer, so to make more money, BMW raised their part prices. Yes, it will continue to keep the little guys like us away, but the insurance companies that pay for genuine parts will pay the price, which we will then pay in higher premiums. Its the circle of life.

As an example, I tried to purchase a used car warantee package for my wife's 2012 X5 from Pentagon Federal Credit Union, a military banker with excellent service quality to its clients. The contract specifically excludes BMWs due to cost, along with other high cost cars. (merc, etc). I ended up getting one from the dealer for a ridiculous amount of money. The turbos on the X5s are known failure points, and a new one is $4k, and the engine has to come out to do the job. The warantee was worth the piece of mind.

On the Canadian BMW parts website, a single injector for a M30 engine is 307.86$ CAD.

For six injectors you're looking at 1,847.16$ CAD or roughly 1400$ USD
Plus tax and shipping, of course. Nice.

edit: didn't see this thread was in the E38 section. oh well.

Some prices have gone down substantially. You can buy a new oem a, b or c pillar in tan, grey or black on ecs for only $125 each now. they used to be about $400 each with NO material.

Headlight switch bezel still gets my vote. It's a $0.10 piece of injection molded plastic with a silk-screened diagram on the front. It's arguably one of the cheapest and easiest parts to make on a car. And I was convinced I had a winner with the trim piece that my car has been missing since I acquired it... https://parts.bmwnorthwest.com/p/BMW...458184062.html
I've since found a beige one on ebay that I'm dying black, so there's that I guess. But that headlight bezel price is simply insane.

I wonder if the price jumped up on those after the recent release of a auto-headlight retrofit tutorial?
