Pulley started whistling up near the air conditioning pump, Air was blowing ice cold and then stopped, then about 10 min later started blowing ice cold again, then today did the same thing, blew cold air for about 10 min, but now it's not again and hasn't started blowing cold anymore. What’s the condition of the belt that drives the ac compressor? You need to take the car to an automotive ac shop to check pressures. However, if the ac was blowing ice cold the ac refrigerant is likely ok.

    Welcome to the forum.

It's important to always identify the car, when asking for help.

"BMW 530i" covers more than 6 generations of 5 series cars, spanning nearly 50 years. You need to give us a year.

For an A/C system, step 1 is to evacuate and recharge the system with exactly the correct amount of refrigerant (I can't even say WHICH refrigerant, without knowing the year!) If it's a fairly recent car, say, 1996 or newer, you also should read codes from the IHKA (A/c computer).

Oh, after filling the refrigerant exactly, you need to watch both high and low-side pressures on an A/C gauge set, to understand what's really transpiring.
