Hi guys.Change of plan with tacho.
So I have one old VDO tacho with clock instead of RPM meter and one new Motometer tacho with RPM bad with bad SI board.
Can I use the SI board from old VDO tacho with clock to replace bad SI board from Motometer tacho with RPM gauge?
Thanks.

I think the boards can be swapped but depending on what year, you might be able to do an si board delete, like i did
No e30s again.
Can you explain me that SI board delete?
Or atleast give some link,thanks.

My SI board is MotoMeter one and has 13 and 5 pins.
if you have one of the older style cluster mother boards, you can just put a jumper wire across two spots and it lets you remove the si board. since the older clusters were set up differently, it works well. I put an older cluster into one of my two kid's cars and once I find another, I will do the same for the other one.
I cannot believe I cannot even find the pics I put up for this. someone was talking about this a couple months ago and I put up pictures from my cluster, showing exactly where to jumper, and now I cannot find the posts.

I think it only works on the other board, yours is the newer one

This is my board

yup, you have a newer style cluster so it won't work. you can buy an older (84, 85, early early 86) cluster on ebay for cheap and put your gages in it and jumper the pins like I did and not ever worry about the si board again, though
No e30s again.
I have one older cluster with clock insted of rev meter, can i put rev meter in it?
Altrough it has problem with backlights,I chagned the bulbs and light doesn't come up again
Every 10k kilometers?
I mine by miles, like in the old days. e30s are older cars so I still do them that way.
if your lights don't work, get a multimeter and follow the traces. you have some that are not intact. you can just solder a small jumper wire across the broken areas to get it working again. I had to do that on mine and it works fine now. as far as swapping with the clock version, the only thing I can say is to try it. that's how I figure out if something works and no one else has done it, or put it on the net. I swap stuff around and plug it in and if it works, wooohoooo!! if not, oh well, back to the drawing board
No e30s again.
