Hi Folks, my M62 has one valve cover nut with a missing washer and subsequently a “squashed” rubber seal. Don’t want to even think about what happened to the washer since it is integral to the nut! I have a new cap nut with rubber seal but am unsure about removing just one nut with all other nuts torqued down. Anyone know what is recommended in this situation? Thanks very much.
Go ahead and install the new components,
just be sure to torque to the same amount as the others surrounding it.
Btw, the torque specs are 5~7ftlbs. Do not exceed 7.
The rubber grommets should not appear squished,
that is a quick sign you've exceeded the proper torque.
Thanks for the quick reply. As you pointed out I should also have asked for the correct torque. I will give the new nuts a try and see if any leaks develop. This may well end up being the easiest repair yet!
