    Wheel sizes

Are there any light weight 17" rims that will fit an E46 M3? Looking at total gearing in a class that does not allow diff changes.

APEX 17x9.5 or 17x10 would fit. 255 or 275 would be your only tire choices.

Thank you. So no brake caliper clearance issues? Assuming 17s, that would be big money saver over 18s. Looking at the cost of building an SCCA Solo STU car. Right now, I am running a 97 M3 in STR, and it is hopeless against the Miatas and S2000s.

I have started looking at used E46 M3s, and exclusive of the "gems", the prices are all over the map !!!!

No brake caliper clearance. 9.5 +35 (might want spacers for more flush) or 10 +25
I remember in college someone in my car club won STU in 2012 in his E36 M3.
Hard to beat those JDM cars with their cheaper aftermarket parts when you're on a budget.

Well, the E36 M3 is in STR now, and SHOULD be in STX, and a new home found for the non-M E36s.

Not sure about your input on the 17" Apex wheels on an E46 M3. Bimmerworld sells Apex wheels and says that a 17x10 WILL fit. So, more investigation is in order.

    Update -- Apex's web site lists 17s for the E46 M3.
