e34 540i Getrag reverse switch wire harness

Does anyone know the part number for the reverse switch plug and wire harness of the 540 6-speed? I can't seem to find it on realoem. It's a two prong female plug that connects to the reverse switch on the side of the getrag 420g. The wires run up to the center console area.

Are you looking for the entire harness or just the plug? The harness is part of the main engine harness, I believe - it is in the same loom as the oxygen sensors. I believe the connector is 12521706091.

Ah ok, that explains why I couldn't find it. I'm looking for the entire harness but not if it comes as part of the whole engine harness. That connector looks like it might be the correct one, I wonder if you can also buy the rubber boot for the backside of it.

I think the boot is 61131358330.

If you're building this section of wiring on your own, you'd need terminals and wire seals too. Everything is available new from BMW or from other sources (eg. Mouser). But the best way might be to find a BMW in a junk yard and cut off whatever you need. Most BMWs from the 90s probably have the same wiring setup.

Thanks for the info! That is helpful. The terminals are a flat spade type on the reverse switch, I'll see if I can order all the individual connector parts for a reasonable price. I have plenty of wire laying around, so I would just solder a harness to the connector plug terminals. Although finding that same connector with wires already on it from a parts car or ebay is probably easier.

I found out the connector type is what is referred to as a "Bosch EV1" connector. There are a bunch of them on Amazon and most come with the terminals, wire seals, and wire pigtails already assembled. I bought one that has the same style boot side as the BMW part. This saved me the headache of having to make one.

I ordered the connector rubber boot from BMW (part # 61131358330), and some pvc wire harness tubing from Amazon.

The boot fit perfectly. Here is the finished harness after soldering, heat shrink, and pvc tubing:
