    Rear AC blower

1988 635, my rear AC blower started making a very high pitched squeal, much like a transistor oscillating, and then the blower would stop for a second. It would repeat this two or three times in a day. Then it did it one last time yesterday and no rear AC blower.

Is there a transistor to regulate speed in the rear like on the front?

Sounds like dry bushings to me. Need to dig down to fan motor and oil the bushings with some appropriate lube.

Pretty sure it's not bearings or bushings as it didn't really sound like that, also when it would shut off it would spin down freely, not like the motor was tight or anything. Of course I'll check that though (when I get time to dig into this) and post back. Thanks much for the help.

In my 15 plus years of owning 6er's with rear AC I have not had an issue with the rear controller, so had never looked.
According to the ETM, there is an external control transistor which is controlled by the "solid state " ear AC control circuit board.
I have never seen a write up on replacing that animal, but suspect it is similar to and uses the same transistor as the other two fan motors.
The ETM can be found at the following site, thanks to an earlier post:
