So far so good. Car said as high as 108*F today without any issues. I'll keep hoping.

Is the transmission's temperature staying in range?

No idea. I don't have INPA hooked up. That was outside temperature it was reading. My t-stat is modified and stays anywhere in the 90-102*C range.

Got it. I was just thinking if your issues are caused by the tranny overheating because of detective regulator at the oil cooler or the oil cooler itself.

I don't have the regulator (pre-facelift). It is just two hoses that hook up to the cooler in front of the radiator.

Ok, so it got me the 3.5hrs down to my wedding and back now after the honeymoon. Yay E38! It drives nice and smooth and shift wonderfully. I still baby it from a stop because I don't want to damage anything and cause issues. There's a shudder occasionally on acceleration in 1st gear or sometimes 2nd. Been doing that forever. It's better now. On the highway, I cruise nice a quick without any issues.

The last problem I have to solve is I have a leak and it's not the pan gasket. It left enough fluid under the car the last week to cause a foot long run in the garage. It seems to be dripping off the wire that comes out of the shift selector thing that bolts to the side of the transmission. Where would the fluid be coming from?

A long time ago, I bought the little doughnut seal that goes to the shift selector. I can't remember what people said about replacing it though. Looks like I should be able to unbolt that, pry the old out and stick the new one in. Does that sound right? Anyone have pics? Do I have to drain the transmission?

Lastly, Shane, I met a guy on my honeymoon in Barbados that works for FCPEuro! He had his shirt on. I think his name was Mark. He's fairly new there I guess. I asked if he knew you and he seemed to. How crazy is that?!

Mandatory comment of how you (and me) paid for any FCP staff's vacation at Barbados. They probably bought a yacht down there just on my spending

There is a seal there, exactly as you described that is prone to leakage. I remember seeing many posts about it and there was a DIY as well.

just an update. Drove the car down to visit my parents in fort Lauderdale made the drive fine but went out to run an errand and lost the transmission into failsafe. I got about six thousand miles out of my fluid change before it went. Time for rebuild. Does anyone know a good reliable reputable shop that knows ZF transmissions in South Florida?

Also if there are any local members who know how to rebuild one I will pay you to rebuild it. I trust a member on here more than a random shop.

Sorry to hear! At least you will get a new torque converter as well.
