Post bilstein shocks on a edc suspension system

Hello fellas. I know this topic has been beat up multiple times. I been away for a long time. My 8 needs new front shocks/struts. I have the original oem edc system. I’m thinking of going non-edc with bilsteins. What are the components i need other than bilstein shocks to make this happen. I want to get the work done right away. Thanks

    vinny

Unfortunately Bilstein puts in too much compression rate in their replacement shock which makes the ride very harsh with little performance benefit. Hence, most go through the extra expense to have the Bilsteins re-valved before they have them installed. Also, Bilsteins are a high pressure gas shock and that will raise the ride height, something that is not very desirable with the stock springs.

In the early days Bilsteins were considered the only option for non-EDC shock replacement.
However, now there are additional options to include TRW. Also, the EDC's can be rebuilt for 30% of the cost of OE new EDC shocks.
For Non-EDC replacements, I suggest you review the Hyper thread, essentially, Koni front cartridge with BMW OE rear shock.
If you are keeping the stock springs you can pick from the E31 stock rear non-EDC shocks and use the non-sport Koni E34 front cartridge.

This is a company that was recommended by BMW after the EDC shocks on the E34, M5 was discontinued and they have rebuilt many EDC shocks with excellent results for the M5 community.

When I was faced with shock replacement, I went with OEM Boge non-EDC parts. For all the reasons described above, I was not interested in the Bilsteins option.
The ride and handling are great (but I do have aftermarket larger sway bars front and rear).
