Quick run down: I have a e36 with a 302 from a 1999 ford explorer that's running a new re-manufactured power steering pump. The rack is factory and worked fine before the motor was swapped.
Setup:
For the pressure side, I tried using multiple Russell Performance 16m x 1.5 o ring style adapters but they all leaked like a fat boy mowing Georgia grass. I ended up finding this fitting from Lee Power Steering and it seems to seal pretty well. For lines, I have a 6 an powerflex hose (that I built) that's connecting to an adaptor on the rack and on the return side, I have a adaptor on the rack and another 6 an hose with pushlock fitting to the reservoir.
Issue:
I have absolutely 0 power steering when the car is jacked up, the steering acts like it has power steering but on the ground... its obviously not there.
Testing:
I've verified that there are no leaks and there is no grinding when I turn the wheel. There's also no noises coming from the pump. I've also verified that the the pump is being feed and there's fluid in all of the lines.
Thoughts?

Did you possibly hook the lines up backwards? I have a 302 swapped e36 and the power steering is very simple and works as well as a ford pump can (always leaking)
Did you figure out the clutch pedal yet? And gas pedal?
I ended up buying another pump because after rebates and stuff was only 35$... I'm going to put it on tonight and see if that was the culprit. I also found a cheap rack on CL.
stay tuned.
question, theres 2 lines that run across the rack: a rubber one and a hardline... the rubber one looks cracked.. can I just replace that with a at complaint hose?
as for the clutch, im using a custom made 3an line and gas pedal, I'm using a custom bracket and a mixture of the stock explorer cable and 318i cable.
Ok, so i put the new pump on and it seems like everything is working with no leaks The original one from advanced auto parts must have been junk.
Fun Fact: the 1996 pump has a different inlet than the 1999 explorer pump... The one with the male thing in the hole is the 1996 pump. It also happens to be cheaper.
