Thanks for the links Thad. I'm gonna have to wait to see what I have for hood clearance.
This would look so sweet and sound killa on my LS3.

Not that I know squat about TIG'ing (still learning but getting better) I've been using my Burns-Omatic torch to heat up the thick stainless exhaust flanges before welding the thin exhaust tubing to the flange. Doing this so I don't have to rely on the TIG to supply as much heat so I don't melt a hole thru the thin tubing.

    That would be WICKED Jim!!!

And regarding the welding, I think if you have a really sharp point on your tungsten but at rather a blunt angle, you'll be able to direct the heat into the flange first if you want to skip the pre-heating step. But having said that, I believe there is no wrong method if the results are what you wanted them to be.

I seem to always have problems seeing where the tip is at.
Second problem is keeping the tip out of the puddle.

I found a bunch of 102mm TB on eBay.

2.5 reading glasses from Walgreens are the ticket Jim!!

That and the slight lift of the tungsten right at the moment that you add filler. The puddle will rise up and jump onto the tungsten if you have a nice tight arc and don't lift it slightly when you dab. This is about 20x as true when doing aluminum.

Thad, I’m curious why you prefer to assemble the ECU board vs. buying one that is assembled ( assuming that’s an option).

HA!! That's definitely one of the most powerful reasons!

Other than that though, it's what I'm comfortable with, and what has always worked for me. There's unlimited customizability, and if some component messes up, I can fix it.

Aside from all of that, though, if I had known that this MS3X was going on an LS engine, I might have looked at a gold box, or one of the other MS3X equivalent pre-built units that are PnP for an LS wiring harness. Some guys have had issues with the MS3 Ultimate and Evo prebuilts from DIY Autotune, but a lot of guys haven't. I just dunno... I usually get my next kit on black friday when they're 10% off, so there is a big price difference...

Wondered if you were doing it for the sake of customization. What's different between the one you built for the M62 and this one? Did you have to add drivers for the pushrods

I've been reading quite a bit about MS3 and part of me actually thinks I should have gone with it instead of the GM ECU I currently use. May be on the next project.
    Keep the updates coming.

I did have to add the pushrod drivers, but on the upside I was able to delete the timing chain guide circuit and the alusil circuit. Kind of a wash overall.. Lol

Got a new pup that is taking up quite a bit of my time, but I have been able to make a bit more progress on the LRS. Hoping to **MAYBE** be able to make the Halloween Bash with it:

Thanks Chris! Lol, it is an absolute pile of s#!t!! My thought process is to keep things as "bolt-on/bolt-off" as possible in case I want to pick up a more solid E36 or E46 chassis at some point. But I really love this one while it lasts, because of the No Fs Given-ness of it. Totally my kind of fun.

Looks like the radiator is going to sit about 10" forward of the rear edge of the spare tire well, so it's possible that there will be plenty of airflow available just from the bottom of the car (with the Ford Taurus fan pulling through), but I am planning to probably chop a bunch of holes in the trunk lid too. I have to say I do love the "blow heat forward into the cabin" idea though. Hahaha

Nate, your thoughts on the scoops are excellent! I did give some thought to scoops or NACA ducts in the sides of the quarter panels instead of the quarter windows since this is a 4-door. But I'm in kind of a rush to just get it running at all, so it looks like I'm just going to try to ram ahead by whatever means I can, and see if I can destroy some sets of tires with it on the 27th. We shall see.

Hell ya, NASCAR all the way. Holes in the trunk, roof scoop.

    Haha, thanks guys, I think...

If I live to be 104, maybe I'll learn to make welds and fabricate stuff that I really like. But this hackery will do for now, I've definitely done worse!

Tonight I mounted the radiator, and I don't think you guys will dispute me on the hackness involved in that when you see it. Lol

Finished up the new MS3X and got it wired in. Since I did a lot of the wiring from scratch instead of what I have always done before, scabbing on top of the factory wiring, I put the whole shebang together with wire nuts first. After I had everything working that way, I started back through it on the passenger side and tidied it all up using proper connectors and that sweet fabric wiring harness tape Jim put me onto. I figured I should confirm the driver's side wiring was all good still before moving on, so I video'd a cold start on E85 with open headers. Lol..

Love it. Just punch a hole in the hood (it'll match the rest of the car) for the open header to run thru.
