Hey there
Most of the coding that I've done on my 2004 E60 has been directly using NCS Expert, but I've had very little luck doing so and a whole lot of error, so I'm coming back to it renewed and looking into NCS Dummy to do so. I think I'm pretty confident on how to use NCSD to do what I want, except for one thing: when selecting a chassis and ECU for NCS Dummy to read the trace file, there are always several versions of the ECUs, usually affixed with something like a C01, C02, etc. When reading data from the trace file, how am I supposed to know which version of the ECU I need to use? Is there a guide for this anywhere?
Would really appreciate some help with this. Thanks!

Carefully read chapter 6.1 of the NCS Dummy user manual. It explains where and when NCS Expert displays the information you need for NCS Dummy, just as well as how to create proper trace files with NCS Expert.
Nevertheless, if you have a trace file of which you do not know the module you can make NCS Dummy detect the most likely candidate. See chapter 3.6 for more information.
