ok.. can someone explain the remedy for this ... maybe explaining where to look for the problem and provide a picture or two
... forty-three years of driving before I get behind the wheel of a BMW .... and I am thinking, "why did it take me so long?"
... and then after another 4 years I can't believe that I have two of them !!

I had this problem as well and it's pretty easy to fix. I don't have pictures but the sunroof drains are fairly easy to find. They'll be on the inside front corners where the sunroof sits and the drains are underneath the vehicle right around where the front doors are, you can't miss them.

All you have to do is pour some hot soapy water down the drain holes (a small funnel helps you get the water down the drain) and it should clear out the blockage. If you don't see the water come out, get something flexible and NOT sharp to snake out the drain from underneath the car. This fixed the problem for me.

Also another cause of water to end up on the backseat floor boards is a leaky vapor barrier on the back seat doors. To test this, pour water on the window of the door and as the water goes between the weather-stripping and glass and then through the door, it'll come out between the door panel and the frame (usually right where the light is on the bottom of the panel.) To fix this you have to remove the panel and reseal where the vapor barrier is loose. You can use any type of sealant really. Usually a 3m product.

    Hope this helps you out.
