    2004 325i questions

Just purchased this 325i with only 95,000 miles and the body is mint as is the interior !
    Have 2 problems
1 check engine light is saying problem with cylinder 3 so I changed out the plug and coil the light went off for a week and its now back on. When I start the engine it has a rough idle and after 2 minutes if I shut it off and restart it then it runs smooth. So it doesn't make sense if it was the injector why the restart would correct it.

2nd problem just started after having the car for over a month when I take it out on the highway and go over 65 mph the car rumbles in the front when on the gas but if I let off it smooths out ! Could this be transmission ?

Hope someone has experienced this and pass along the knowledge

Does the car have maintenance records? Was the fuel pump ever replaced? Fuel pumps can “soft fail.” That means the pump can’t provide the required volume of gas at 50 psi. Also, what brands of gas did the previous owner put in the car? El cheapo gas can gum up injectors.
The noise could be caused by any number of things. Btw, is the transmission a manual or an automatic?

Check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Item #2 in the link is the cap for the test port. Pressure has to be at least 50psi at all engine speeds.

    https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=13_0900

Also, check the boot that connects the coil to the spark plug. Check the connector to the cylinder #3 coil.

The connector is tight I looked all over the net for a replacement pigtail couldn't find any. Do you know of any ?

Go to www.realoem.com and enter the last 7 characters of the car’s VIN. Hit enter and bookmark the page. Scroll down to engine electrical to get the part #. I buy parts from FCPEuro.

Each cylinder coil has its own boot. Check realoem under engine electrical. What tool are you using to scan for codes? What’s the fuel pressure?

Well here's a update ! All problems fixed ! Yes the Fuel Filter was clogged ! Fixed the rumble after going fast.
I was getting air in the coolant I have a small hole in the head gasket. So used Bar's Leak repair fixed the air getting in the coolant system and cylinder 3 no more error code !
