    6870 46psi boost (dyno inside)

    Prologue:
Finally hit the dyno with the 6870 turbo setup, been too busy to work on my own stuff for a while plus moving out to Seattle made it really hectic.

Shout out Reilly (M3Mods) for coming up and helping me put a new diff in at the last minute, and helping at the dyno day. Another shout out to Christian Block / Patrick for coming through with the spare diff in the 9th hour.

This setup has been on the car for about 2 years, but I never had the clutch to lay it down. It would slip as soon as boost came on. A few months back we finished that Gs6-53 swap and we were able to really send the car.

    Car specifications:
    • 87mm s52b32
    • Stock head, Stock throttle body, m50 manidold
    • cutring gasket
    • 282/273 cams
    • Je pistons PN: 297171
    • Eagle rods
    • Arp 10mm head studs
    • Arp main studs
    • Arp Rod bolts
    • 22RPD twinscroll manifold
    • 22RPD stock ecu tune for id1700's
    • 3" charge piping (hot and cold)
    • 4" inlet with r2c filter
    • NGK 4554's with 0.022" gap
    • Stock obd2 coil packs
    • twin 485 pumps
    • -8an rail and feed lines, -6 return
    • 3.5" exhaust, 3.5" vibrant muffler and resonator
    • twin turbosmart 40mm compgates
    • Treadstone 1235 intercooler
    • Precision CEA 6870, 1.15 divided, hp cover (3" out)
    • 22RPD Gs6-53 Transmission kit and 1000tq clutch

    Results:
We ran the car in 4th for the first pass (blue) and the second pass in 5th (Red). We lost the wrist pin or the rod on cylinder 5, the wrist pins were rated for 700hp, and the rods 900hp. The motor was never built for this intention and will be rebuilt with what it needs to be reliable at this power level. Je fully believes I lost the wrist pin and they are working with me on a 2000bhp piston combination so we can come back in a few months and see what this setup does.

I also took SP's 6870 graph and plotted my pull on it. This is why I love this platform:

Cliff notes, shit ton of power, but tweaked the engine. Impressive! That's a lot of torque though... omg.

Ive lived all around Tacoma/Seattle/Bellevue for most of my life. Im currently up north in Bellingham.

If you want to catch a scenic drive take hwy11 (Chuckanut) from Mount Vernon to Bellingham. One of the best roads in the country. Its really twisty but lots of bicycles/pedestrians/etc. so its more of a cruise with nice views.

That's awesome.... imagine if we could get our bottom ends to spin to 9-10k like the Supra guys with our heads...

Sad to hear it let go, but looks like it was an awesome time until then lol... curious to see the tear down.

Welcome to Seattle! Get ready for all the natives to moan and complain that someone else is moving here.

Well I visited last year and it just felt right. The girl and I subsequently both landed engineering jobs out here and it just fell into place.

If your local we should catch up!

Yeah me too. I have a build in the works at the moment so my motor teardown is probably a month out.

I was offered a nice don built 85mm motor but I kinda want to go build an 86.5. Decisions decisions.

It’s wild. 5th on the street is faster than a 700 wheel car that sticks while it’s spinning.

Really enjoying it out here. We moved to Renton just up the hill from downtown and it’s a great location.

Impressive torque curve! Amazing that those 10mm studs did the trick.

Do you have a graph with boost on it? I'd love to see where it is and the torque generated there.

I have one. It’s like a gig. I’ll upload it eventually...

Kinda taking it slow right now, we pushed really hard to make that Dyno day happen. Put two cars together that week. I tuned 5 other turbo e36’s that day, today is probably the first day I’m feeling back to 90% hah.
