I like to see these results. My build is pretty similar, yours is just over the top though lol. Maybe one day I'll eventually get there, focusing on getting the car actually running for now.

Yeah I mean I built everything by hand over the years hah. It’s all a progression. “Incremental change” to the engineers here.
Just pay attention to your hot side. I always thought people went too small on the hot side and I think this kinda proves it.
I’m running 1.625” ID primaries and a 1.15 ar housing.

I agree you need to go big on the hot side to make 1000 rwhp. Someone was trapping 130-135 with a 6262 with 0.63 hot side in a full weight M3, so you don’t need a big hot side to make 500-550 rwhp. You also give up response with bigger hot sides, though on E85 and race gas motors, you can use more timing or compression to offset it. The trickier choices are 500-700 rwhp gasoline cars and I have yet to see anything definitive on what is the best hot side for that range. I have had a responsive 0.82 GT35R, a responsive 1.05 EFR 8374, a laggy 1.05 GTX4088R and a responsive 0.92 EFR 9180 all in that power range on the same motor with the same tune running the same fuel.
Very nice!! I hope to 1 day have crazy numbers, but for now I'll just settle for a running turbo charged M3
Why so much hate on the FB pages though?

Going to give a soft shout out to sm3 and Emc. They both are coming together trying to help me get this back together better than before. Probably a little build thread in order soon.

Info??
First and foremost, kickass! I’ve been waiting for this a long time. You been doing the turbo tunes for about 2 years now, IIRC.
I’m surprised to see the turbo holding 45-50psi up to 7000rpm, let alone with that hot side.
I’m guessing it’s restricted to some point, meaning it might make more power (less torque) if boost comes down. Or, do you think not?
In the end, I love to see some different/new ideas/setups being posted.
Thanks!
Well I actually got roped into some oem ecu disassembly work back in 2012.. I started playing with this platform a couple years later. I tuned my car back in like ‘14.. then built a turbo setup for it and tuned it. Then a few people wanted me to tune theirs and it’s kinda been an evolution. I never really intended to do all this, but was really disappointed by the turbo tuners back when, with zero support. It’s been a long road, I don’t even want to know how many hours hah.
Yeah This turbo and setup has really impressed so far. I think it has all of 1100whp in it.
Going back with a custom ac condenser and a 4.5” intercooler, a ported head, and probably a small bore block. Hoping that opening it up a little more will net me 100whp, and I think there’s atleast another 100whp in tuning. The afrs were a bit off, the tailpipe afr isn’t helping how it looks.
Hope to have all that and the remaining driveline in it this year to fully sort it and enjoy it for the long haul.

It’s all relevant in terms of ways to make 500-700 rwhp on an S52 on pump gas. But yes, there are other options. CES made 700 on a 1.06 turbine housing with a GT35R for example, but on 100 octane and with cams. With my pump gas tune and stock cams, I felt like the 610 rwhp I got out of the GT35R with 0.82 was pretty close to the limit since adding boost just fattened the midrange and added next to nothing up top. Someone else might run a 1000 hp potential turbo to make 700, but that will come at the cost of response, whether it has massive exhaust housing or a tiny one.
Can't wait to see the build thread on this!!

Hes saying you cant just compare A/R of the turbine housing to response. The turbine blade aero is one of the most critical factors, not the A/R. A/R is only really relevant on the same turbine family and can't be compared well to another turbo with a different turbine.
In your example you compared a bunch of different platforms to A/R. Even if the turbine housing was the same A/R and machined to match the various turbines you would still get different results.
I think most people just look at inducer, exducer & trim, but there is a lot more to it than that. Number of blades, shape of the blades, depth of blades, etc. is very important to determine the spool characteristics.
you guys shoulda seen this in person, lol. it was ham.
