Driving on the rough streets in Baltimore has cracked the interior trim in my 20 year old car. Got any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks

The plastic clip is broken, quite common on older models.I have repaired my ones on the E32 750 with a fiber mat repair kit, same I did on my E36 M3 when I did the headliner

Shogun tricks and tips for the E32 series are HERE!
Another somewhat trick is to use some double sided tape or velcro if you don't want to replace it or do a "repair"
Also, looks like the part is still available if you wanted to completely replace it. Might not quite match the rest of your interior though

That is ABS plastic. You can take scrap pieces and weld them back onto the trim. Clean the surface with alcohol. Heat and join the plastic with the smoothing attachment. The Weller soldering iron at Home Depot has it.
