Hi all....I just picked up a 2005 325i convertible with a soft top that won't function properly. Don't want to spend a lot of mula fixing it!
Is there a way to remove all the cylinders and just make a totally manual Top?
At first sight it seems doable!!!
Thanks
In two words: Not really.
You could remove the entire roof assembly and replace it with a manual top. The problem you'll find if you try to 'convert' is that the locking mechanism at the windshield for an automatic top requires the use of a hex wrench to secure (it's under that little cover). A manual top has a user friendly handle and you cannot convert an automatic to have a handle. A good used replacement automatic top can be found on EBay in the $400-$500 range rather frequently.
What exactly is your problem?

So...I don't think any 2005 models were manual soft tops OR were they?
If SO what earlier year would fit?
Thanks in advance.
