INPA: Working on a E36, not working on a E39

I set up INPA last year for my 1996 328i, it works perfectly. Now Iīve bought a 2001 530i E39 and I want to read codes (ABS and TCS lights on, speedo doesnīt work). In ediabas.ini Iīve changed from Interface= ADS to Interface= STD:OBD, but then I got the message "IFH-0003: Datatransmission to interface disturbed".
Iīve seen that in the folder C:\EDIABAS\HARDWARE, Iīve got only the folder "ADS", and I should have the folder "OBD" too, shouldnīt I? That means I have to reinstall INPA? I donīt remember having to choose between ADS or OBD interface when I installed INPA last year.

    Thanks!!

Are you using an actual ADS interface?

No, my car is a 2001 and only has a OBD2 interface. Iīm using a OBD2-USB, K+DCAN cable.

So for the E36 you are using the ADS interface then?

Install an INPA/ediabas pack that has the OBD folder in the hardware folder, and run the obdsetup.exe file inside when you switch to K+DCAN.

When you want to run ADS interface again, you will have to run ADSSetup.exe and restart computer. (And repeat to switch again)

Well, Iīve installed another version of INPA, now I have the OBD folder. When I run INPA I see the battery and ignition lights ON so it seems that the laptop and car communicates properly, but I can only see the engine info (I can see analog and digital values, Vanos, engine error codes, etc..). I canīt see "chassis", "body", etc. info. When I select "chassis" and "ABS" (the one Iīm interested, because my ABS/TCS instrument cluster lights are on), it appears a error message: "IFH-0009: NO RESPONSE FROM CONTROLUNIT. Program will be stopped!"

Iīve tried COM Port 1 and 4, reinstalled the K+DCAN interface drivers... but it seems strange that I can see the engine info and error codes, but not read the other car modules (I havenīt tried everyone of them, only ABS, airbag, instrument cluster...)

Thanks a lot for your help.

Bridge pins 7&8 on the K+DCAN to gain dual K-line communication. (Also, use 20-pin port if you have it available)

Ufff...so my K+DCAN isnīt fit for my 2001 E39 unless I bridge those pins...Iīm not very good at soldering. Those K+DCAN cables with a switch Iīve seen for sale, would they work like taking apart my cable and doing a bridge between pins 7 and 8? My car hasnīt the underbonnet 20 pin port.

Thanks a lot, Iīm really grateful!
