Symptom: Trunk cannot be opened because Convertible top cover's micro-switch malfunctions :
* Key to the left produces multiple light clicks
* Key to center or right gives me a limp button. I push but no resistance and trunk latch doesn’t disengage .
Related Info: The microswitch under the toneau cover on the left [passenger US] side of the car interlocks with the central locking system to enable the unlatching of the trunk. Failure of this microswitch can cause the trunk to not open [button becomes de-energized].
Solution:
* Pull the Central Locking fuses . 96 -E36 these fuses are 7, 35, and 43
* Key turned Left will allow trunk to be opened [Manual entry]

Dear MOD:
I would like this to be stickyed and added to the Convertible FAQ if possible for any future members who may experience this. Hopefully this will prevent the following of drastic advice [like drilling holes in the trunk etc].
