Can I power on with airbag box disconnected?

There is an airbag module located in the center console. About 3"x3" disconnected right now as Ive removed the carpet.

The seats aren't connected and the box is also disconnected. Can I put power to the car with these disconnected? I believe it would only be a problem if I connected or disconnected while power was on.

If I do hook it up I'm afraid it could fall or be knocked and. . . think I'm in an accident? sorry don't know how thr system works

I cannot currently just hook it all back up otherwise this post wouldn't exist =)

You can hook up the battery but it will cause the airbag light to come on. It won't cycle off after all is completed. You will have to have software to turn it off. OBD II reader won't do it. The crash sensors are not in the module.

    Thanks!

I'll remount it and hook it back up.

The chairs dont need to be hooked up though for me. Again I assume the problem would be hooking it up when power is on - that WOULD be faulty.

    Thanks for the quick response.

Yep, no issues. Just the checklight will be on.

Chairs unplugged when power is applied doesn't set a light for me. Again I believe it would only do that if I plugged them in when there is already power, or unplugged when power is still on.

Either way, no lights on and I was able to do my tests, thx again =)

I've always heard you can't unplug the seats without the power off or you set a code! Also, there are those seat belt tensioners on the seats - figured that's what caused the code.
