I have replaced all rotors and pads and the both sensors yet the break lining light in red on the dash will not go out. Any ideas?

Not a BMW answer but no more red brake light. I couldn't figure it out, so I put black tape over the dash light.

Later when I pulled the dash cluster, I pulled that light bulb. No need for such a useless sensor unless your...

    No e30s, again :(
I think I have read there is a solder issue on the mother board for the cluster having to do with that light. my son's car does it also. but you can unplug your pad sensors and see if it turns off. the other thing is it could be a spot in the brake pad wiring that is going to ground and making that light come on. like a spot where the wire got rubbed through
    No e30s again.

The circuit is pretty basic. It's just a big loop from the cluster and back. If anything in the loop either breaks or goes to ground, the light comes on. Early cars were prone to burning out a resistor on the cluster main circuit board. Even though you have an 89, it's possible that's your problem. There are other main board faults that can cause the same issue. Also, it's brakes and not breaks. In other words, if you don't use your brakes you'll likely find something else breaks.
