Hey guys so I have a pre-FL e39 with a multifunction 4 spoke steering wheel, and tryed fitting the same exact wheel from a facelift and it does not fit, now Ive began wondering what are my options? A pre-fl 4 spoke and pre-fl 3spoke sport wheels only?

Hi,

This question has been extensively covered on this and many other BMW forums. The pre facelift E39's had a single stage airbag setup/configuration and the facelifts a dual stage setup. Each has their own connectors/sensors/physical differences in fitting. The 'switchover' date was March 1999. The facelift wheel you purchased will not fit/work on your pre-facelift car.

Most owners of pre-facelifts will find a an 'early' M Sport type, single stage airbag steering wheel and fit that as an upgrade.
