Questions on my 2004 E60

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums, I recently bought a 2004 E60, so far enjoying the car. But there are a couple of error codes regarding the automatic transmission, I've looked them up, but have forgot what the codes are. The car has 250k miles on it along with a good size oil leak. So I plan to do a complete engine and transmission swap. I was wondering if I were to buy a 2005 manual transmission with 88k miles on it. Could I buy a 2005 engine to go along with it and replace the old one? I know some of the parts for the auto to manual swap like the clutch, master and slave cylinders, and shifter, Is there a forum post that can guide me on this adventure? Or better just to find a automatic transmission along with the engine and plop it in the car? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

You’re going to need a pedal box to accomdate the clutch pedal.
