Hi im new here. I have 320I fuel injected for 3 months ran perfect.started fine cold or warm. I went to get exhaust welded up. The guy grounded welder but did not disconnect my car battery. Done with weld started perfectly ran perfect.went about a mile down road and dead. Didnt stumble.just like gas has shut off. Wait til it gets cold. Like over 3 hrs and starts no problem. Will go about 1-2 miles and dead. I have jumped relay and pump is loud but humming. But will not start. I have replaced fuel filter and all fuses. Everything works fine when running. Is it just a coincidence it did this after weld. I dont know. Keep in mind it either strarts, idles, and runs perfect.or dies after 1-2 miles. Nothing else. Please help with some insight.I live in wenatchee and quite a few boneheads out here.MUCH appreciated.please explain any suggestions.
it's just a coincidence.

Long time, Tom! How you been?
have the 3 pieces of 'cloth braided' fuel hose on the suction side of the external fuel pump ever been replaced? if not, they are sucking air bubbles and seeping some fuel. All 3 pieces of hose are connected to the metal "Y" fitting next to the external pump, 2 hose sizes..
You also want to clean the fuel pump fuse and it's holders, make sure the holders hold the fuse tightly too. Try to only use the copper/brass fuses. the silver-color fuses corrode too fast.
Could also be ignition system, but check/replace those ^ hoses first.
Tbd
Several items can cause this, one is a failing ignition coil check resistance valves.

Hi. Thanks for reply. I did replace hises but not with braded. All that was leaking when I bought it. So at the Y junctjon I used rubber hose . I believe it was fi rated. I know I used regular fuel line for the one that came from acccumulator to pump. Or something like that ill have to check again.its late. , resisatance valves on ignition coil. Valves? What are they and how to check them

Also that fuel pump when I use a jumper has a more electric jacobs ladder sound. Consistent but very sparky sounding. Not a low humm. More of a intense sparkler sound. NORMAL?
I believe he meant resistance values.
