Yesterday, 8-14-18...I got in the mail from USDOT "URGENT SAFETY RECALL INFORMATION" indicating parts for my 03 325xi are available now...The repair is FREE. Call or Text "FIX" To: 888-736-5935. Apparently, the passenger side air bag, made by Takata, is the only air bag in question for my car. Question: Has anyone here taken advantage of this recall and if so what is involved, who did the replacement, how long do they hold your car?
I'd think I'm last on their lists.....after 17 years.....But I did receive an official recall notice...even though I'm the second owner! PROGRESSIVE, my insurance, requests passenger air replacement now, (as a result) or I may be subjected to pay higher insurance premiums starting for me in September.

Thank you. I only got yesterday an official from USDOT. My insurance company informed me that my rate "will" increase if I do not address this recall after visiting my agent this morning.
I emailed BMW NA in July 2016 and asked how much longer I would have to drive my unsafe BMW. They responded the next day and had a new Air Bag shipped to my dealer FedEx overnight. I had it installed a few days later.
