    E39 Door lock question

Replacing my front driver's door lock mechanism along with a new lock actuator. The new lock seems to have an additional electrical connector (in white) that the older one doesn't have. I don't see a white mating connector inside the door either. Any idea what this is for?

Could be for the heater circuit. Just a guess, but I think the E39 could be bought with a cold weather option that included a heater in the latch assembly. Go to www.realoem.com and enter the last 7 characters of the car’s VIN. Hit enter and bookmark the page. Scroll down to the trim section (I think) and see if there are 2 different assemblies for that door.

Two wires, that makes sense. What the E39s really need is for the damn door weatherstrip to be heated. E39 owners from cold climates will understand
