    S61Dan's 750IL Resurrection

Now that my E34 M50B30 build is done, why not dive into another project? Doesn't matter that my Ford 6.9 Rollback is half apart....
Picked this 1999 750IL Black w/ Black interior for a VERY good price. Left work early just to make sure I secured it. Car originally lived in Houston Texas up until about about 2012 so the underside is pretty clean. Came with the orignal window sticker ($96K!) all the books, nav discs and a PILE of maintenance records that total over $10,000. The part that really sold me was the staggered 18in Style 5s everything else was gravy. It's in Engine and Trans Failsafe but it's all tied to the Throttle bodies (one is mechanically sticky causing bank mis-compare codes) so should be fixed quick. Time for pics.

Moving photos to another host. PSA Imgur Does NOT allow your photos on bimmerforums because their is a classified portion of the forums.. I got in touch with them and that is what I was told.

    UPDATE:
Added photos again. Can everyone see them?

Broke down, stripped peeling clear and ran the 18in style 5s to the carwash quick.

Through some more diag with inpa and dis, I found a few throttle body #1 codes. It was pretty stiff even after I cleaned it up. Sourced another on, installed it and Engine AND trans failsafe is gone! Pretty stoked. Runs and drives great aside from /dsc/asc trifecta lights. Inpa pointed to a pre charge pump. Troubleshot it and it is in fact dead. I already have a good replacement to install. Just need time.

Nothing aside from the ABS/DSC/ASC codes
It has a144k on it currently. The hatch was another project I found a year or so ago. Rebuilt the engine and refreshed entire chassis.

i'm assuming intake gaskets have been done as well as valve covers by a PO?

You are a brave man. After my e34 rebuild I'm taking a break from living in the garage. My original iL needs a new block and I aint moving on it too fast.

The hatch? its a 4AC. Slow but with a 5spd you can rip through the gears and never break the speed limit.

I don't have record with intake gaskets or VCGs, but I hope so!

I love style 5s. I have probably about 15 or so in 17s and then these.

It has been back to back projects between the e34 stroker, 318ti, Corolla, my rollback and now this. Doesn't help I work professionally as a helicopter mechanic.

I have driven the 750 very little so far. Of course things are springing up. Needs the VCGs done and some new plugs as its misfiring a little. Doing intake gaskets (max lumens kit) as well. Never posted the wheels redone and mounted so picture time.

Nice find. Love those Style 5's in 18. I did a similar deal in Dec/Jan with a 750. It was on Craigs, and mainly I wanted the interior for my other 7. Once I got there, I connected my battery box, as it was not running and discovered a 70k mile car with lots of new parts under the hood. Inside is near perfect less the headliner, and being a 1998 it needs a paint job. But, I drive it every single day now. 7/98 build was the last month, so it came with 4:3 Nav, which I've swapped for the 16:9 and Mk4. I've had a few 750's and decided to go back to the 740's because I wanted to do some mods, 750's are pretty much - just drive and enjoy. So, the 750 is going to remain as BMW pushed it off the line and the other car.....well not so much.

Thanks, this thing is a blast to drive but I always feel like an imminent failure is coming. I will feel much better about it as I keep working on it.

Oh man, that's how I always feel... btw, Style 5 in 18s is pretty rare, took me almost a year to find a good set on ebay that wasn't 3k! Here's what they look like with a lowered set-up if that's your thing:

That is really the main reason I bought the car. I knew what these were as soon as the seller confirmed they were 18s. He didn't know what he had. To be honest, I was going to part the car out, but then got there and realized the peanuts asking price definitely didn't reflect on the car. It was in very good shape and didn't deserve to be parted. so here we are...
