Hello, it’s been several days that I’m trying to get working my K+d-can usb interface on my 1997 e36, unsuccessfully... well, almost...
Here is my story :’) :
I bought this interface because I saw somewhere on the internet that it would work on e36 1995+.
After many problems (mainly because I couldn’t find a working version of inpa+ediabas...) I finally installed Inpa 5.0.2 in obd mode on my Windows XP laptop and I can access to only 3 modules of my e36 : airbag, auto a/c and I don’t remember the other ... the others gave me ifh-0009 no response from control unit and ifh-0006 command not accepted.
But I think the problem is not from my interface because I can access to a lot of modules on my dad’s e90.
Here is what I think : maybe what I saw on Internet was wrong and my bmw needs an ads interface ?
This is my question
And also if what I think is right, do you have any advice on what to do now ? I have a computer with a serial port so Should i buy tinyads to diagnose my car ? Or is there another solution (less expensive than tiny ads) ?
Thank you and sorry if my English is not perfect, I’m from France
I´m not an expert by no means in diagnostics, but does your ´97 E36 have a OBDII plug, or only the ADS underbonnet socket?
I have an European spec early ´96 model year E36, it only has the ADS one, and the only way I could use INPA was with the (relatively expensive) TinyADS interface. OBDII wasn´t introduced yet. But it works very well, I can access every module and the cable seems beautifully made.
