Was trying to change brakes and rotors on a 2008 535i. pads no issue but when I tried to get the rotors off (after removing the screw) they were stuck on. I didn't think this year had electric parking brake and the manual parking brake lever was off. Is there something I am missing or is this simply get a mallet and wack harder? Throwing the rotors away so not worried about them but seemed it was more than just physically stuck?
Can you turn the rotors? If yes then parking brake is not the problem. May be corrosion holding the rotor top hat to the hub. A good hit to the top hat of the rotor followed by a lighter hit to the outside perimeter of the rotor should free it up. If it is the e brake, there is a adjuster on the e brake assembly at the bottom accessible through one of the lug bolt holes. Put 2 lug bolts partly in and use a long screwdriver or breaker bar to rotate top hat for alignment. Use a flat tip screwdriver to back off adjuster to free up brake shoes.
Good luck.

Cannot turn the rotors which is why I kept thinking something weird was going on. Will try to loosen the parking break as you described and see if that works.
Thanks for the info
I added a Pelican parts tutorial link to my earlier post.
I used a 4lb sledge and a wooden block at noon, 3,6, and 9 finally broke loose and I’m in the south with no salts/rust

I used the same method as zipman35, but am in NH where we have corrosion. Have had to use this technique regularly over the years. I do put a very light coat of antiseize on the hub to rotor and rotor to wheel faces and I razorblade and clean/scrape rust off those surfaces when I change rotors and wheels and also off the mating face of the wheel.
