When driving on interstate I got a Transmission Malfunction warning. I pulled over and turned the car off for awhile, when i turned it back on it made a loud scraping like sound when putting it into gear, jerked and the malfunction popped up again.
I don’t have a code reader so im gonna get it towed to my indy, but are there any ideas of what could cause the problem.
Edit:attached video for sound and malfunction icon.

I feel for you.
I think that is far to wide a fault description to narrow it down.
Mine provided the same warning and over the day it just died.
For me, it was the oil pump in the tranny.
For you it will be something else.
It's likely either a rebuild or a replacement. I did a used replacement for $4200 CAD all included ($1100 Trans, Lots of Labor, All the Seals, New Fluid, Taxes)
Thanks for the reply, Kinda expected to hear a rebuild or replacement but was hoping for something better. Im gonna get it to my indy sometime this week and hope its something simpler and cheaper, will let you know.
Old post but forgot to post solution. It turns out my rear left axle was damaged at the differental causing a tranny malunction code.
