    2004 E85, 3.0i Motor Mount Question

About a month ago, I noticed popping coming from under the vehicle as if the protective plastics were buckling from the chassis twisting. So I removed all front cap and all undercarriage protective plastics and still popping. I narrowed the search down towards the middle of the engine, after looking at the drivers side motor mount there appears to be fluid around the in a small narrow cavity around the mount itself.

Question: Is it supposed to leak fluid? I've never known motor mounts to contain fluid - I'm thinking this is bad!

My vehicle has 105K miles, so I'm guessing changing them about will rid me of the popping?

    Thanks!

Most stock BMW motor mounts are liquid filled.
I would replace with a good quality aftermarket rubber piece.

Also if your suspension has not been refreshed the FCAB's could be knocking.
At 105k it is time for refreshing lots of things if not already attended to.

Ensure the leak is not something from up above first...

There is a popping noise that came happen it is at the middle if the fire wall where the over lapping strut bars meet, it sounds like it is at the base of the windshield the nut needs to be retorqued the nut is never loose but loosen it and re tighten it and if that is the noise it will go away, this also works on the 6 series

    What they said.
My popping noise was coming from right at the base of the windshield and sure enough, it was loose and I found out that the factory specs on the cross brace nuts are 41nm(~30ft/lbs) on the nut and sure enough, they were much looser than that.

the two nuts right below the wiper blade/cowl cover.
