Hello guys, I'm new over here but not new to BMWs. So I started receiving low coolant message on my 08 X5 and have been topping it off with coolant and water. First time this happened I used good quality coolant to top it off but when I received the low coolant light again in two days I decided to top it off with cheap coolant/regular tap water until I fixed the issue.
Now while topping off the expansion tank I noticed the coolant was slightly foamy. The foam was white. At first I suspected a blown head gasket but the oil is fine and I see no white smoke coming off the exhaust.
There is no noticeable puddle of water/coolant anywhere I park but the leak is considerable since I have to put about 3 quarts of water every two days. The car runs fine and I haven't had the overheating light ever.
turns out to be the hose that goes from the water pump to the radiator that's leaky.
