Bmw e92 lost total power steering

I have a BMW e92 it has lost total power steering I have yellow light up on dash of a steering wheel..plugged into computer today and it just says hardware fault..also this has electric steering..any ideas please

I just joined this site and cannot find on how to send a post. maybe someone can guide me.

I was driving the other day and slowed down approaching a mini round about. once i started steering to the left the steering became really stiff, it was so hard to turn it. Engine was still running, no warning lights, power steering fluid topped up a few weeks ago. i had to stop the car, switched the engine off and back on and it was fine. I had to drive back 30 mins after and nothing happened. took it to local garage, pumps seems to be working fine. what could have caused this issue?? is it likely to be repeated again? its quite alarming that it can happen anything again

Have the serpentine belt inspected by someone familiar with these cars. If it shreds, it can destroy the engine.
Also have them look for OFHG/VCG leaks that can damage the belt.
